What is TripStalker?

TripStalker is an automated software application that takes your specific travel criteria and continuously checks for a price that meets or beats your 'notify' price in order to save you time and money. We are not a travel agency; our service searches or stalks various travel partners for the best price to meet your exact travel criteria.


How does TripStalker work?

You download a free software application onto your computer, which provides a constant search or stalk on the Internet for best-price travel. Then you enter your exact travel criteria for up to three trips, or stalks, which triggers ongoing queries to our travel fulfillment providers. You are alerted via desktop, email or SMS text messaging on your phone when the price drops below the requested price. Once alerted, you can modify and book directly through TripStalker or our affiliate website where the fare was found.


Why do I have to download TripStalker?

TripStalker uses the latest Microsoft .NET™ technology architecture to stalk your trip. This works to combine your computer's processing power with our server's automation process to constantly check for the best prices. Having the TripStalker download application on your computer will further serve the purpose of allowing TripStalker to check for prices on web-based travel sites , while the TripStalker server will check for the price on "computer searchable" global distribution systems and other relevant travel inventory providers. This combination is one of the things that make TripStalker unique and sets it apart from any other travel search engine.


Is there a fee to use TripStalker?

No, this service costs absolutely nothing and is free to download and use.


How is TripStalker different from other online travel programs?

TripStalker saves you time and money by searching for your exact travel criteria continuously while other travel programs search a "moment-in-time" price which require you to repeatedly keep checking for the best fare. We do the work for you, saving you time and money -- TripStalker repeats the search until the price takes a dip, then alerts you with an option to modify and book the trip through the TripStalker or one of our affiliate websites.


Can I book international trips through TripStalker?

Yes, comprehensive searches and international booking are available through our service.


How do I edit my stalk for new dates or times?

Go to your current stalks in the TripStalker application and click on "edit" to process new information into a stalk.


How does TripStalker make its money?

We make a small commissions through our travel partners when you actually book a ticket with TripStalker. This will come as a small service fee already included in the reported price of the trip.


What if I have problems installing or using the TripStalker?

TripStalker is currently in a beta phase. This means that we recognize there may still be bugs to work out occasionally. We hope that TripStalker will work correctly for you100% of the time - but if you have any problems, please email our technical department at feedback@tripstalker.com and we will get back to you within 24 - 48 hours time, or contact us through this web form. In order for us to help you, please be as specific as possible about what you were doing when the issue occurred and provide any details that you can recall that might help us to solve the problem quickly.

TripStalker also has a built-in error tracking utility - often times we will know there' is a problem before you do, and are already working on the solution.

What are the system requirements for installing TripStalker?

We utilize Microsoft .NET™ technology - while TripStalker should work on any system with the .NET framework installed, at this time we only support users with either the Microsoft Windows® 2000 or XP operating system.


Who are the travel partners that are used in your searches?

We work with most major airlines, hotels and car rental services to stalk the best prices available. TripStalker is linked into both the SABRE network and WorldSpan Global Distribution Systems via our primary fulfillment partner, Interactive Affiliate Network (IAN).

We are continuously developing links into multiple fulfillment providers who hold travel inventory. If you operate a service or own an individual hotel, airline or car rental company that would like to give us direct access to your inventory, please contact us.

Who own the company and when was it established?

TripStalker is owned by private investors and was founded in 2003 by J.P. Maxwell, who is currently the President of the company.


How do I cancel a reservation I have through TripStalker?

When you book your trip with TripStalker you will receive an e-mail confirmation with your travel itinerary, including detailed information on how to cancel your trip should you need to do so. Depending on the rules of the airline, car service or hotel, various fees may apply for cancelling a trip.


How do I add additional passengers for an existing booking on an airline, car rental, or hotel?

You will have the opportunity to modify or verify the number of passengers at the time of booking, or you may edit the information in your stalk by clicking the "edit" button on the "active stalks" section of the TripStalker application.


TripStalker keeps saying it can not connect, what should I do?

Please review this post in our forums detailing procedures to check that your firewall / Internet Security product is allowing TripStalker to connect to the TripStalker servers.
